The Venue
An iconic setting for ideas that shape the future
MARKA London takes place at the Design Museum in Kensington, the world’s leading museum of contemporary design and one of the city’s defining post-war buildings.
The museum occupies the former Commonwealth Institute on Kensington High Street, on the edge of Holland Park. Completed in 1962 by Robert Matthew, Johnson-Marshall and Partners, the structure is known above all for its copper roof: a hyperbolic paraboloid that spans the full width of the building and lifts at two opposing corners. John Pawson, who later redesigned its interiors, describes it as a tent in the park.
The conference is hosted in the Sachs Family Park Room on the museum’s second floor.
